Our panel is diverse representing small to large media companies as well as newspapers, TV and radio. They represent some of the smartest minds in our industry. So where are they placing their digital bets and why? Don’t miss this lively, interactive session that is sure to provide great ideas and food for thought.

This is perhaps the biggest area of frustration for local media companies of all sizes. How do we get traditional reps to sell more digital? How much do we invest in digital-only reps? Do we completely separate the two or opt for an integrated model? No matter which path you have chosen, chances are you are not 100% happy with the results. In this session we’ll hear from some local media executives that have started to crack the code with some promising early results. This may be the most important session of the summit.

10:30 AM – 10:45 AM: Networking break with sponsors/exhibitors

10:45 AM – 5:00 PM: Local Media Digital Innovation – Best Industry Case Studies – Moderated by Matt Coen, Co-Founder & President, Second Street

This part of the program will feature sessions that highlight the work of the first place winners in the Local Media Digital Innovation contest. This extremely competitive contest, judged by the faculty at the University of Texas at Austin Engaging News Project, featured entries from more than 80 different local media companies. Most of the categories are judged by size (number of monthly unique visitors) so that both small and large media companies are recognized for their innovative efforts.

No category generated more entries than this one. Twelve companies were nominated and the competition was intense. The judges considered two things when choosing the winners: the actual entries from the media companies that explained how this R&D partner helped them grow digital revenue and went above and beyond with support and training, as well as the number of votes cast for each one.
