Prepare to be wowed! The Washington Post continues to lead, disrupt and innovate in all areas including digital. Micah Gelman will share what’s working, what’s not and where they are investing in 2018.

9:30 – 10:00 a.m. – Video Revenue – Where’s the Money? Presented by Gordon Borrell, CEO, Borrell & Associates

Many media companies have struggled to monetize video. In this session, Borrell will show us where the money is and where it’s going.

10:00 – 10:15 a.m. – Networking Break

10:15 – 11:30 a.m. – OTT: Is This A Viable Business Opportunity? Presented by: Mike Mocklar, Head of Programming, Digital Video, Raycom Media, Jon Accarrino, Executive Director Business Development, Bonneville Salt Lake City, Shelly Leslie, General Manager, Audience Development, WRAL & Sheryl Worsley, News Director, KSL NewsRadio

This session will feature case studies from TV and radio stations that are incorporating OTT into their businesses and taking advantage of the opportunities for new content and revenue.

11:30 – 12:00 p.m. – Social Video Case Study – Perhaps the Most Lucrative Opportunity Today — Presented by Frank Mungeam, Vice President, Digital Content, TEGNA 

We have identified a number of media companies that are starting to crack the code when it comes to monetizing video on social media platforms. We’ll share their case studies during this session.

1:00 – 1:45 p.m. – Opportunities with You Tube – Presented by Dan Petty/Denver Post and Catherine Badalamente/Graham Media Group.

The Denver Post has built a content and revenue strategy specifically for YouTube – find out why it’s making a major investment in the platform. And Graham Media Group is testing the new YouTube video player – a major disruptive innovation – and will have early results to share. Don’t miss these two terrific case studies, which provide unique perspectives on the YouTube opportunity.

1:45 – 2:30 p.m. – Emerging Video – Virtual Reality: Ray Soto, Director of Emerging Tech (AR | VR), Gannett and Digital Billboard Network: James Avis, Managing Director, Oahu Media Group

This session examines video platforms and strategies that are just emerging. We’ll take a look at some local media experiments and results. Prepare to geek out.

2:30 – 3:00 p.m. – Wrap-Up: Interactive Exercises Designed to Help You Develop and Examine Your Strategy – Moderated by John Clark/PILOT and Jed Williams/LMA.

The best way to end the summit is to use the information and examples presented throughout the day as inspiration to examine and develop your strategy. This interactive session features all the attendees and includes small group discussions to being exploring new possibilities for your organization.
