Local Media Association Innovator of the Year Announced

Chief digital officer at Calkins Media is recipient

 

Chicago (September 11, 2015) – Guy Tasaka, chief digital officer and vice president at Calkins Media, has been selected as the recipient of the Local Media Innovator of the Year award. The LMA award is bestowed upon a senior-level local media executive that has been the catalyst for transformative change at their company.

 

The recipient should exhibit bold leadership in local media by pioneering new concepts or creating new business units and they should be considered “game-changers” or “thought-leaders” in the industry. In addition, the recipient should demonstrate a willingness to share their success stories and lessons learned with others in the industry, the ability to lead their company in a transformative way and have created a culture of innovation at their company.

 

In nominating Tasaka, Mark G. Contreras, CEO of Calkins Media wrote, “He [Tasaka] has also put Calkins in the enviable position to be on the forefront of video distribution on platforms such as Roku, Amazon Fire and has set us up to participate on the Apple TV platform at some point in the future. We are now in a position—because of Guy’s leadership—to offer these publishing platforms to other brands and publishers that we feel will represent a significant revenue stream for us in the future.”

Tasaka will be recognized during a luncheon at the Local Media Association Innovation Conference, Oct. 1, in Denver.
