5 scholarships available for New York City Innovation Mission
The three-day trip focuses on consumer revenue strategies

Five scholarships are now available for the upcoming Innovation Mission on March 23-25 for media executives of color. Thank you to the Google News Initiative for providing this fantastic opportunity.

“We are thrilled to once again offer these scholarships to media executives of color,” said Nancy Lane, president, Local Media Association. “Please spread the word if you know someone who can benefit from this tremendous learning opportunity. We are grateful to the Google News Initiative for funding this important initiative.”

Applications are due by Feb. 7; winners will be announced by February 14. Members of the LMA diversity, equity and inclusion committee will serve as judges. LMA will pay for the recipients’ travel to New York City; GNI will cover all of the other costs including hotel, meals and transportation throughout the trip.

The trip kicks off with a four-hour session detailing the tests, insights and key takeaways from the Google News Initiative Digital Subsciptions Lab, featuring two of ten Lab participants, The Buffalo News and The Post and Courier, along with executives from FTI Consulting, Google and LMA. Day two features reader revenue and membership discussions at Hearst and Digiday. Both TheSkimm and Piano have been invited to join conversations on day three.
